Obituary
Ms. Myrna G. Garwood, age 58, of Grand Rapids, was welcomed into the arms her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 14, 2008. While working at Howmett Chemical, it was her joy to provide training and tours of the facility, allowing her to use her gift of conversation. For six years she had been struggling with cancer; and although she stopped working, she volunteered at Meijer Gardens, the American Red Cross, the Summer Celebration and the Lumbertown Festival in Muskegon, to name a few. She also had a heart for those in need, building meaningful relationships with many in her community. For all her life Myrna was a lady who gave to others. She taught her children to be independent, share your gift of life with others, and make a positive impression with your life. On the day she joined North Park Baptist Church she spoke with conviction and clarity regarding the purity of God's love. She is survived by her children, Jim Lawson of Morgantown, NC, and Myrna Lynn Lawson of Grand Rapids; brothers and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Whiting, Pamela Harper and Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Whiting; and nieces and nephews; and a grandmother to all. The service for Ms. Garwood will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at North Park Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Daniels officiating. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider North Park Baptist Church. Friends and relatives may meet with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford www.pedersonfuneralhome.com
