Obituary
Thomas R. Adcock, age 87, passed away after a long illness at Metron Nursing Home of Big Rapids, MI on July 13, 2008. He had been a resident of Hastings, Michigan prior to his illness. Mr. Adcock was born in Payne, Ohio and grew up in Holt, Michigan. After graduation from Michigan State College with a degree in Business Administration, he entered the army, serving most of his time in the European theatre during World War II. After the war he joined the Michigan Bell Telephone Company in the Accounting Department, retiring as District Accounting Manager in 1979. He was active in many civic, fraternal and professional groups including Scoutmaster (Eagle Scout), The Detroit Junior Board of commerce, Data Processing Management Association, National Association of Accountants, Lions Club and Kiwanis Club (Past President). His favorite organization was the Masonic Blue Lodge (Past Master). He also belonged to the Scottish Rite (32 ND Degree) and the Shriners. He is survived by his College sweetheart and bride of 64 years, the former Ava Doretta Bradshaw; two sons, Thomas Larry and his wife Kim of New York and Robert Dale and his wife, Carmen of Florida and one daughter, Ava Lynne Colonna and her husband Rick of Canadian Lakes, Michigan; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Philip and his wife Lenora; two sisters, Helen and Mary Ann and sister-in-law, Joy. He is preceded in death by one son, Gerald Bruce, his mother and father, Oscar and Edith (Brady) Adcock, five brothers, Donald, Richard, Robert, Arthur and Samuel, sisters-in-law, Margie, Virginia, Helen and Carol, two brother-in-laws, Bruce and William, one niece, Joan and one grand nephew, Matthew.
