William Van Maaren

Van Maaren, William Kalamazoo Age 89, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021. Bill was born in Kalamazoo on May 2, 1932, the son of the late Albert and Henrietta (Ebbers) Van Maaren. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill was a long-time employee for the City of Kalamazoo. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and attending car shows, as well as watching sports on TV and working in his yard. On June 27, 1955, Bill married the former June A. Taft, who preceded him in death on March 27, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, George and Richard and sisters, Henrietta, Elizabeth and Francis. Bill is survived by his children, Diana (Steve) Oliver, Roger, Douglas (Ramona) and William C. Van Maaren and June Owen; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A private family service was held, and interment took place next to his wife, June, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
