Obituary
LESERT - William Louis Lesert, aged 79, formerly of Kentwood and Jenison, passed away at Whispering Woods in Grand Rapids on January 18, 2009. Wild Bill, as he was known to friends, family and coworkers, was an active, hardworking man who was devoted to family and gave generously to his community. As an active member of District 9 Little League for over 40 years and as President of Kelloggsville Little League for over 30 years, he touched the lives of many ball players, coaches, and parents. After 47 years as a truck driver for Grocer's Baking Company (Oven Fresh) and a proud member of Teamsters, Local 406, he maintained an active role as a retiree and friend to drivers and their spouses. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Susan (Hess) Lesert; father, Joseph Louis Lesert; siblings, Alice (Lesert) Johnson, Frederick Lesert, Clarence Lesert. He is survived by his six children, William Alan Lesert, Victoria Anne (David) Gless, Barbara Joanne Lesert, Brooks Robin (Melanie) Lesert, Maryann Lesert (Greg Lewis), Erin Lesert; his former wife, Carol Ann (VanderWeg) Lesert; his endeared companion, Jean Hirt; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews and their families. For all, his smile will never be forgotten. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at the funeral home with Chaplain Steve Shick officiating. Interment in Central Lake Twp. Cemetery at a date to be announced. Memorials may be made to Kelloggsville Little League, P.O. Box 9544, Wyoming, MI 49509, or Alzheimer's Association. The family will greet relatives and friends 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home.
