Wilbur Abraham Sager, age 91, of Delton, Michigan, passed away on September 2, 2026. He was born December 8, 1934, to Delmar and Della Sager.

Wilbur graduated from Delton Kellogg High School and married Mary Morse of Delton on June 30, 1956. Together, Wilbur and Mary shared 70 years of marriage and raised three children: Susan Quick of Richland, Shelby Godde (Greg) of Baldwin, and Bud Sager (Tracy) of Battle Creek.

Wilbur worked for 43 years at James River Paper Mill in Parchment. His commitment to his community extended far beyond his working career. He was a longtime member of the Delton Fire Department, serving in many capacities over the years, including as Fire Chief. He also served as a constable, was president of the Fire Club, served for many years on the Delton DASH senior housing board, and was a member of the Lions Club.

Wilbur faithfully attended Faith United Methodist Church and participated in three mission journeys, serving communities in Mexico, the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, and Kentucky. He also worked with the funeral home in Delton for many years, from 1965 until 2026.

Wilbur enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing poker, but much of his life was centered around his family, friends, faith, and community. He lived by a simple motto: "Work hard, help others, and enjoy life." He faithfully lived those words throughout his life. He was a true friend, loved by many, and leaves behind a lifetime of friendships and a community made better by his willingness to help others.

In addition to his wife, Mary, and his children, Wilbur is survived by his grandchildren, Travis Quick (Ashley), Brandy Hicks (Carles), Sarah Godde, Geana Tregear (Jim), Stacy Drumm (Jordan), and Haleigh McElgunn (Matt); 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Stan Sager; brother-in-law, Richard Baylor; sister-in-law, Cindie Taylor (Scott); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Della Sager; four brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation will be held at Williams-Gores Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 6, at Faith United Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the service at 3:00 p.m. A meal and time of fellowship will follow the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators, Faith United Methodist Church, the Delton Moose Lodge, the Delton VFW, or the Delton Fire Club.
