Obituary
Walter R. Lack, 86, of Albion, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Laurels of Bedford. He was born June 18, 1921 in Sparta, Tennessee to Lloyd and Martha (Johnson) Lack. He married Mary Rachel Lawson in 1943; she preceded him in death on March 17, 1981. On June 25, 1983, Walter married Ellrie (Frazier) Johnson, and she survives. He was a fork lift driver at Corning Glass in Albion for over 25 years until retiring. He also worked for Gale Manufacturing, Albion Malleable, and Albion Public Schools. Walter and Ellrie enjoyed several winters in Mesa, Arizona. He loved to play shuffleboard and won many trophies. Walter also loved to play harmonica for friends and family and in church. Survivors include: wife, Ellrie Lack of Albion; a daughter, Lynda Lack of Albion; (3) sons, Lloyd (Nancy) Lack of Battle Creek, Bill (Jackie) Lack, Mason, and Carl (Connie) Lack, Dayton, Ohio; (3) stepsons, Gary (Nancy) Johnson of East Leroy, Mark (Patti) Johnson, Battle Creek, and Gill (Susan) Johnson, Long Beach, California; a sister, Della Lack of Sparta, Tennessee; and numerous grand and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Jewel, Cora, Flora and Dora, brothers, Jim, Harvey and Harley, his son, Michael Lack, stepson James Johnson and grandson, Jeffrey Lack. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 18, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion with Rev. Earl Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 4 and 6 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Freewill Baptist Church and Great Lakes Hospice would be appreciated.
