Vincent A. Miklas II, 94, died peacefully at home in Portage, MI on August 23, 2021 from natural causes. Vince is survived by daughters Paula A. White (Norm Young) of Portage and Nina M. (Jim) Cunningham of Union, MI, sister Evelyn Stege of Manistee, MI, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a niece and several nephews. Vince was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Eileen, sons Vincent A (III), Shawn C. and Mark M. Miklas, his parents and one grandson, Matthew Miklas. He is also survived by many friends at StoryPoint of Portage, where he lived for the last few years. We are so grateful to his StoryPoint family, and especially his friend, Dorothy Crabb, for her companionship and support during Vince's last years. Born to Vincent and Josephine (Bialik) Miklas, Vince grew up in Manistee, MI and graduated from Michigan Tech University with degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering. He later received his MBA from the University of Connecticut. He established his own business, Electrolines, Inc, in Ann Arbor, MI. A manufacturer's agent by trade, he loved a road trip and relished planning vacations and outings, always researching out of the way places to discover on the drive. He also appreciated food and wine, and reluctantly learned to cook for himself after his favorite chef, Eileen, passed on. Vince was an avid photographer and chronicled many family events and trips, tirelessly preserving those memories in photo albums and slides. He enjoyed reading, listening to music and playing games at family gatherings - Risk! was a favorite. Vince was always ready to engage in a current events debate and was keen to trade stories with friends and family. Vince proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps. A few years ago, he was treated to a Washington D.C. Honor Flight with fellow Michigan Veterans, an emotional and heart-warming experience with lasting memories. Vince will be remembered by family and friends at Guardian Angels Church, 371 5th St, Manistee, MI 49660, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:00am and will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery, alongside Eileen. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in Vince's name to Catholic Relief Services or Doctors Without Borders. Notes of condolence may be sent to the family in care of Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 S Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
