Vernon Vorenkamp

Vernon passed away Wednesday morning, June 19, 2019 at his home. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, he was born September 20, 1931, the son of Melvin and Hazel (Knauss) Vorenkamp. Vernon was employed by Western Michigan University as a printer for 41 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church. On May 23, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Diane Hayward, in Kalamazoo, who preceded him in death in 2009. He was later united in marriage to Marlene Blank on August 19, 2012. Vernon loved God and his family. He will be remembered as a happy, loving, spouse, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew him. He always had a smile on his face and you knew that he loved you, just the way you are. Surviving are his children, Mark (Terry) Vorenkamp and Linda (Greg Gaines) Vorenkamp, grandchildren, David, Laura, and Lisa Vorenkamp, and Brielle and Lindsay Gaines; his wife, Marlene Vorenkamp and her children, Chris (Mark) Ransom, Brad (Sue) Blank, Craig (Tammie) Blank, Rod (Missie) Blank, Carrie (Mike) Wendell and Kelly Tucker; and an additional nineteen grandchildren from his wife Marlene; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a stepson, William A. Blank; and sister, Bernadine Ault. Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 PM on Sunday, June 23rd at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Funeral services for Vernon will be at 12:30 pm on Monday, June 24th at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 2800 Gull Road, with Rev. Matt Weiler officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Mt.
