Tom Litchford

Age 88, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was born on May 12, 1928 in Obion TN, the son of James and Bertha (Bittick) Litchford and spent his formative years in Obion before the family moved to Southwest Michigan. Tom played baseball and basketball in high school, was the editor of the school newspaper and the class president at Covert High School where he graduated in 1947. On June 27, 1948 he married Lois Olson, and together they raised their children in a caring and loving home. Throughout the years he worked for Whirlpool, Twin Cities Container and in 1968 he started the Majestic Post Company until selling the company in 1985. Tom could be described as an upbeat person who easily made friends. Even though Tom spent many hours working, his family was the center of his life. Tom has been cremated and graveside services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday (Apr. 12) at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph (2925 Niles Road). Members of Tom’s family include his wife, Lois; children: Bruce Thomas (Pamela) Litchford and Vicki (Victor) Dmitruk; 6 grandchildren: Thomas (Danielle) Litchford, Katherine Litchford, Megan (Justin) Keteyian, Jonathon (Betsy) Dmitruk, Kimberly Dmitruk and Benjamin Dmitruk; 5 great grandchildren: Sean, Olivia, Matthew, Miles and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Brian Litchford; and a brother, Jerry Litchford.
