Todd Smith

odd W. Smith, age 62 of Plainwell, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on September 14, 2025. He was born on June 20, 1963, in Kalamazoo, the son of Richard and Judith (Loomis) Smith. Todd was a 1981 graduate of Loy Norrix High School and attended Central Michigan University. In his younger years, he worked at Pretty Lake Camp and Camp Torenta. He began his career as a service engineer at The Upjohn Company and was currently working at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Todd enjoyed his tractors and working on the farm creating beautiful spaces, and would often take scenic drives in his Jeep. His family treasures many fond memories of him singing and playing guitar. Above all, Todd cherished his role as a father and later as a grandfather, who loved playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a hard worker, a generous helper, and a playful spirit.

His family includes his children: Kara (Brian) Thomas, Jordan (Kait) Smith, Lindsay Smith, Tiffany Smith and their mother and his closest friend Bethany Smith; his grandchildren: Ellis Thomas, Adeline Thomas, Emile Smith and Sylvie Smith; his father, Richard Smith; his siblings: Jennifer Smith-Goy, David Smith, Nate Smith and Matt Smith; and nieces and nephews: Elliot, Hannah, Kathryn, Evan, and Melanie; as well as great-niece and great-nephew Ailee and Walter. He was preceded in death by his mother Judith Smith.
