Hammontree, Theo Van 10/9/1934 - 3/4/2023 Hephzibah Theo V. Hammontree was born October 9, 1934 in Fife Lake Michigan, to Floyd Emery and Helen Lydia (VanPelt) Hammontree, the youngest of four children. Theo enlisted in the USAF, where he served from 1954 until 1958. He met Charlotte Rose Payne in 1954, and they were married on October 15, 1955. Theo studied drafting at Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, MI. Theo and Charlotte had four children. From 1971 until 1988 the family lived in Portage, MI, and attended Grace Baptist Church, where Theo served in several leadership positions. In 1988, he worked for Hydreco and was transferred to Augusta, Georgia.They are members of Trinity Baptist Church. Theo passed early on March 4, 2023 with his loving family at his side. He is survived by Charlotte, his wife of 67 years; their children, Kevin E (Elaine M. Otis) Hammontree, Mark E. (Milena Van Deusen) Hammontree, Kelly S. (Timothy) Booth, and James R (Alexander C. Parr) Hammontree; six grandchildren, and two great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless other friends and family. Theo was predeceased by his parents and his three siblings. We would like to thank the staff of Augusta Piedmont Heart Institute for their care and concern for Theo and his family. Visitation will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, at 4594 Columbia Rd, Martinez, on Thursday, March 9, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Services will follow at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Theo's memory.
