Lupina, Thaddeus (Ted) 8/2/1953 - 1/13/2021 Henderson, NV Thaddeus (Ted) Lupina, age 67, Henderson NV, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Ted had a difficult medical year and his body was too frail to fight off COVID-19. Most of his life was spent in Kalamazoo, he graduated from KCHS in 1971. He received a BS from Michigan State University, Lyman Briggs College in 1975. Ted was married to Paula Williams in 1976. He worked for KALSEC Inc for 34 years, working from lab tech up to Regulatory Director. Also, for Sensient, Indianapolis, IN for 3 years as Director Regulatory Compliance, and finally ProCaps Laboratories, Henderson NV, for 6 years as Director Regulatory Affairs. Paula nicknamed him Mr. Fine Print. While living in Kalamazoo, Ted was an active volunteer for KIA Art Fair 2001-2010. He also served on the Environmental Concerns Cmte, Advisory Group to Kalamazoo City Commission 1999-2010. Ted was a member of several professional organization with his favorite being American Spice Trade Association. His affiliation started in 1983 on the Technical Group and ended with being President, 2009-2010. Ted had many interests: birding, classical music, carving ducks, all forms of art and theater, and reading. He also deeply cherished his friends so much they were like family. Ted was a very cheerful and optimistic person, even in the toughest of times he said, "I'm not putting up with this nonsense. I have places to go, and things to do." Preceded in Death by his mother, Mary (Bajo) DeForest in 2002. Survived by: his wife, Paula; sisters, Betty (Renfer) Korzilius, Rosemary Lupina Knoll; brother, Fred Renfer, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Due to COVID-19 a memorial will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MSU-Lyman Briggs College, MSU-Las Vegas Scholarship or Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
