Ted West

Passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at his home. Ted was born June 2, 1935 in Downs, Illinois, the son of Robert and Carabel (Hendren) West. On August 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Catherine (Goss) West who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Pamela West and Douglas (Michelle) West; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Holly) West, Jackie (Matt) Simkins, Cara West, and Karson West; 4 great-grandchildren Kenslee, Mary Catherine, Carlin and Forrest; a sister Donnabelle West of LeRoy, IL; 2 brothers, Dick (Marcia) West of LeRoy, IL, and Mike West of Iowa City, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 in Germany. Ted worked as the production manager at various injection molding plants and was one of the owners of Engineered Plastic Components (EPC) in Mattawan until he retired. He enjoyed going to NASCAR races with the boys, also golfing, and spending time with his family. He and Mary Catherine spent their retirement winter years in Ft. Myers, FL. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, no memorial service will be held at this time. Graveside service will be held at a later date in LeRoy, IL. The family sends their condolences to all his friends who loved him. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to the Oakland Drive Christian Church.
