Sanders, Susan Meyers 9/4/1946 - 3/7/2023 Plainwell, MI Susan Sanders passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2023 due to cardiac arrest. Sue was born September 4, 1946 in Teaneck, Bergen County, NJ to Glenn and Edythe (Yungfert) Meyers. Sue married Dr. James R. Sanders on June 15, 1968 in Glen Rock, NJ. Together they enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband Jim and daughter Jamie. She is preceded in death by her sister Sheila, her parents, and daughter Jennifer. Sue graduated from Glen Rock, NJ High School in 1964, Bucknell University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Phi Beta Kappa in 1968, Indiana University with a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1973, and from Western Michigan University with a Masters Degree in Computer Science. Sue was a very intelligent, energetic, and loving teacher, parent , spouse, and friend. She worked as a systems analyst in Denver and Boulder, CO and as a teacher /instructor at Plainwell Public Schools and Western Michigan University . She loved her family and she loved her animalshorses, dogs, cats, parakeets, and wild birds! Sue was an avid reader, an inspiring cook, and a passionate genealogist. In her retirement, she joined her husband Jim in exploring the far reaches of Europe and North and South America, fondly describing Easter Island as "the most remote place on earth". Her relationship with her daughters was especially close as she was an avid supporter and coach of their numerous interests, which included a lot of time spent at soccer fields, horse shows, and cooking contests. Burial will be held privately at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in remembrance of Sue, be made to the SPCA of SW Michigan, Canine Companions for Independence, Best Friends Animal Society, or the American Genealogical Society.
