Susan Locke Britigan of Richland, MI passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, at the age of 86. The daughter of Wendell Locke and Virginia Locke Grunewald, she was born on February 19, 1937, in Kalamazoo, MI. Raised on Lockshore Farm, she was an accomplished equestrian winning many blue ribbons. She attended State/University High School and studied English at the University of Colorado where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. After graduating from college, Susan married Bob Britigan on October 3, 1959.

She taught English while Bob served in the Navy and had a lengthy career as a substitute teacher at Gull Lake High School.

Susan was actively involved in the Service Club of Kalamazoo, Gull Lake Country Club, Red Hat Society and her Book Club. Susan spent summers at Gull Lake and winters on Singer Island, FL. She enjoyed reading and playing Mahjong. She was an enthusiastic shopper and "Meechigan" football supporter. Most importantly, she loved socializing, being outdoors and spending time with her beloved sisters and family.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband. Surviving are her children Robert D. Britigan, III (Claudia) of Parchment, MI and Virginia Page Bostic (Tony) of Vienna, VA; and grandchildren, Alissa Britigan, Bo Britigan and Sara Bostic. Susan is also survived by her loving and inseparable sisters, Wendy Field and

Nancy Remley (Dan) along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Centrica Care and the amazing caregivers at Grace Valley for their exceptional care and compassion. A private family memorial will be held at a future date.
