Susan Johns

Susan "Sue" M. Johns, age 64 of Portage, died on June 11, 2023. She was born on June 22, 1958, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Dale and Marion (McCrackin) Cook. Sue was a 1976 graduate of Loy Norrix High School and had attended Parsons Business School. She retired after 36 years as a scheduler at Borgess Medical Center. Sue attended 1st Congregational Church of Kalamazoo for many years. On July 15, 1995, she married Steve Johns. They enjoyed camping and spending time together with their family. Sue loved to cruise, spend time with her animals or other animals, and she loved to travel. She cherished her grandchildren and loved her time with them. Sue was known for her generous acts of kindness, whether she was bringing food to friends or sending greeting cards to loved ones. Sue will be missed by her many friends and family. Her family includes her husband, Steve; her children: Jeremy Hunter and Allison (Derek) Wynne; her grandchildren: Dylan, Mackenzie, Olivia, Opal, and Oakes; her sisters: Sandy Brigman and Karen (Gary) Baker; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Marion Cook and her parents-in-law James W. and Mary M. Johns.

The family will greet friends on Friday, June 16th, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be held following at 2:00 PM with Pastor Dennis Smith officiating. Donations in memory of Sue may be made to the Gift of Life.
