Susan DeVries, age 54 of Martin, went to be with her Lord on February 12, 2020. She was born March 9, 1965, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Frederick and Ardith (TerHorst) Roodvoets. Sue was a 1983 graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. Sue had been the administrative assistant at Heritage Christian Reformed Church for many years. She had been a member of the East Martin Christian School Board. On November 24, 1984, she married her lifelong sweetheart, Curtis DeVries. They were members of Martin Reformed Church, where they served faithfully. Sue loved her family and friends selflessly. She gladly participated in the Children's Ministry at her church for many years. She was always present cheering for her children and supporting them through every event in their lives. Her family includes her husband Curtis DeVries; her children: Kelvin (Kailee) DeVries, John Mark (Morgan) DeVries, Lydia (Kevin) DeMann, Isaac DeVries (Taylor Vink), and Elijah DeVries; her grandchildren: Noah, Madison, Henry, and Harper; her mother Ardith Roodvoets; her parents-in-law, John and Frances DeVries; her brothers and sisters: Rick (Judy) Roodvoets, Steve Roodvoets, Chuck (Ellen) Roodvoets, Rachael Roodvoets, and Bob (Danielle) Roodvoets; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father Frederick Roodvoets. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM on Monday, February 17, 2020, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Sue's funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 11 AM at Martin Reformed Church, 1073 W. Allegan Street, Martin, Michigan, with Pastor Mark Heijerman and Pastor Simon Tuin officiating. A private interment will follow at East Martin Cemetery.
