Steven William Whitehead

Steven W. Whitehead, 65, of Portage, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Steve was born May 10, 1958, in Kalamazoo, the son of William and Sandra (LeBlanc) Whitehead. He graduated from Portage Central High School in 1977 and was employed at Borroughs Corporation and Checker Motors. Steve enjoyed shooting and was a member of many area gun clubs. He also had a passion for flying, earning an associate degree in aviation from Jackson Community College and his private pilot's license.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Daisha (John) Perry, of Texas; his mother Sandra Whitehead of Portage; three siblings, Lori (Greg) Cegielski, John (Lori) Whitehead, and David (Amy) Whitehead; two grandchildren, Ariena and Johnny Perry; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Family and friends may gather on Friday, June 9, 2023, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49024 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m.
