Steven Schroen

Steven Frederick Schroen passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on August 11th, 2023 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in 1951 to Hazell and Frederick Schroen and lived most of his life in the Kalamazoo area. Steve graduated from Portage Northern High School in 1969 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. His career began at Unifab Corporation in Portage, a company started by his father in 1940. Steve became an industrious and respected CEO in 1982 and remained in this position until his retirement in 2008.

Steve was an avid golfer, fisherman and outdoorsman with a passion for science and nature. He was well known around his neighborhood for his charming and thoughtful presence. Steve always had a story to share or assistance to offer. He loved spending time working in his vegetable garden, tinkering on various projects, chatting with neighbors, and spending time with his son.

Steve is survived by his son, Nicholas Schroen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazell and Frederick Schroen, and his sister, Sylvia Jackson. Those who wish to express remembrance or sympathy may consider making a donation to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
