Steven Jonker

(Rockford) Mr. Steven Jonker, age 59, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007. Steve was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and the Bishop Richter Council of the Knights of Columbus. For 25 years, he worked in sales at Diocesan Publications. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jo Finkler; children, Milissa and David Helmholdt of Rockford; grandson, Ethan; sister, Mary Kay and John Wiegerink of Sparta; sister-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Jonker of Walker; Mary Jo's family, Mrs. Irene Finkler of Grand Rapids, Jean and Harry "Bud" Barron of FL, Charlene and Paul Polega of Grand Rapids, Thomas Finkler of FL, John E. Finkler of CA, Sue Ann and Bob Wissink of Grand Rapids, and Lu Ann and Gaspare Calandrino of Grand Rapids; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary (Walcott) Jonker, brother, Curtis Jay Jonker, and his father-in-law, LaVerne C. Finkler. The Mass of Christian Burial for Steve will be offered on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Rockford with Rev. Thomas Page, Rev. John Thome, and Rev. Edwin Thome concelebrating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Building Fund at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church or the Doran Foundation at Saint Mary's Health Care, designated for the new Intensive Care Unit, 200 Jefferson, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
