Evans, Stephen "Steve" Lane Jr., passed away quietly in the early hours of May 27, 2021 in Keaau Hawaii. Born in Junction City Kansas August 25, 1969 he spent most of his young life between Texas and Michigan and later New Jersey where he left for Hawaii in 2004 as a landscaper. While in Michigan he attended school in Allegan, Otsego and Martin. He was later known for his skills in tree cutting and removal as well as automotive mechanics. While in Hawaii he learned dry wall and other carpentry skills. He loved helping his friends,riding his motorcycle, playing guitar and listening to Pearl Jam. In 2017 he was evacuated from the lava flows in Hilo Hawaii and was interviewed by our Channel 3 News. Steve is survived by his mother Maria (Quarry) Scarsella ( Frank) of Delton Mi, half sisters Christine (Taggart) Hunt (Michael) of Plainwell MI; Callie Evans and Cashe Evans of Oklahoma; daughters Crystal Rose Evans of VA, Megan Marie Evans Bronson of Kalamazoo MI and son Kody Lane Thomas Evans of Texas; four grandchildren Paul, Lyniah, Melani and Zuri along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by both material and paternal grandparents, stepfather Jack Dennis Minegar in 1989, father Stephen Lane Evans Sr in 2005 and half brother Chain Martin Evans in 2016. A service and cremation has taken place in Hilo Hawaii and there will be a Celebration of Life on July 10, 2021 at the home of his aunt Sharon and uncle Joe Case at Big lake 1493 Rose Rd Hopkins. Visitation is noon to 1:00 with Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating the celebration of life at 1:00. Please stay after and enjoy food and fellowship with the family. Feel free to bring a chair, swimsuit and dress in Hawaiian attire.
