Shirley Myers

Myers, Shirley Portage Shirley passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born on January 16, 1929, in Datchet, Berkshire, England, a daughter of the late John E. and Eleanor J. (Lewin) Mace. She worked for many years at the Shakespeare Company and was a member of the Milwood United Methodist Church. On October 26, 1968 Shirley married John "Jay" Myers, who preceded her in death on August 11, 2011. She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Stanley Mace, Doris Green, Edna Venables and Sheila Freestone. Shirley is survived by a brother, Peter Mace; three sisters, Olive Anderson, Iris Hall and Gwen Heap all of England; a sister-in-law, Maxine Grosser of Kalamazoo; nieces and nephews, John Mace of Australia, Alan Mace, Robert Green, Angela Simpson, Linda Venables, Teresa Venables, and Stuart Freestone, all of England; friends and staff at Community Living Options; and friends, Doug and Marge Smith, and Larry and Barbara Gracey. Special thanks to the staff at Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment services will be held in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 10:00 am.
