Shirley Ann Holton, aged 82, of Kalamazoo, passed away on August 30, 2007 at her home. Shirley was born on April 16, 1925 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Chester and Elizabeth (Merriman) Brownell. Shirley was a member of St. Thomas More Student Parish Church and a former of St. Augustine Cathedral where she was a volunteer for Workers of Mary. Her interests were her children and her grandchildren. Shirley married Robert Holton who preceded her in death in 1991. Shirley is survived by eight children, Michael (Roseann) Holton of Grand Rapids, Steven (Judi) Holton of Oakland, CA, Carol Holton of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara (James) Schiebergen of Kalamazoo, William (Linda) Holton of Wyoming, MI, Peg (Tim) Bourgeois of Parchment, Kurtis (Jane) Holton of Richland, MI and Thomas (Patti) Holton of Vicksburg, MI; eight grandchildren; Jaimie Dailey, Jason Holton, Clayton Mathews, Andrew Bourgeois, Elizabeth Bourgeois, Whitney Holton, Ashley Holton and Abbey Holton; two sisters, Irene (Dick) Wills of Sun City Center, FL, and Frances Newland of Sebring, FL; one brother, Peter (Marilyn) Brownell of Portage, MI; and several nieces and nephews. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 3, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redmond Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156 A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1628 East G Ave., Parchment, MI. Fr. Ken Schmidt of St. Thomas More Student Parish, Celebrant. Private interment of cremains will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the St. Ambrose Church Hall following interment of cremains. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or West Michigan Cancer Center.
