Obituary
Passed away Tuesday, February 4th, 2025 at Clark on Keller Lake, Grand Rapids. Shirley was born May 29, 1936 in Muskegon, daughter of the late Aaron and Julia Schoolman and lived in the Burnips area until marrying the love of her life, Douglas in 1958. The two then moved to the Bloomingdale area. She was a longtime and very active member of the Bloomingdale Christian Church where she played a prominent role with the CWF. Shirley served her local community for 7 years as the Cheshire Township Treasurer and worked for several years in the office at the Bloomingdale High School. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in her tulips and roses. She also enjoyed going on cruises, especially those with a great buffet. More than anything though, Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grand and great grandmother and cherished every moment she spent with her family.
Surviving is her husband of nearly 67 years, Douglas; 2 sons, Robert (Kristine) and Karl (Amelia); grandchildren, Jessica (Logan) Mirandette, Jake (Paige) Greiffendorf, Josh Greiffendorf, Maxwell Greiffendorf; great grandchildren, Ezra, Tatum, Atlas, Raeya, Beckham; a sister, Betty Collick; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sandra Viergutz, 3 brothers-in-law, Gene Collick, Jerry Viergutz and Roger Greiffendorf, nephew, Jody Collick and her best friend, Marilyn Remington.
The family will meet friends on Saturday, February 15th from 11am until time of funeral services at noon at the Bloomingdale Christian Church, Pastor Gary Napp officiating. Interment will follow in Lindsley Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements entrusted to the Bloomingdale Chapel, D. L.
