Shirley Festerling

Shirley Ann Festerling, age 85 of Portage, died at Rose Arbor Hospice Home on April 15, 2022. She was born on June 13, 1936, in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Guisdella) Malinowski. She was a graduate of Bay City High School. Shirley took great joy in raising her two children. She was a hard worker and in later years she was a real estate agent for Remax. On June 3, 1972, she married Richard L. Festerling, and they shared nearly 50 years of marriage. They enjoyed ballroom dancing and socializing at the Portage Eagles Lodge and the Kalamazoo VFW Hall. Her family includes her husband, Dick Festerling; her children: Stephen (Pam) Moore and Cynthia (Steve Wightman) Rose; her stepchildren: Valerie McWilliams and Jennifer (Jonathan) Stout; her grandchildren: Daniel and Melanie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry and Ronald Malinowski.
