Shelly McCarty

Age 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Shelly was born on December 5, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Robert Eugene and Norma Jean (Jakubowski) Boyle. She graduated from Delton High School and went on to enjoy a successful career in real estate, working for many years as a Realtor with Keller Williams Real Estate.

On August 30, 1997, Shelly married Brent Joseph McCarty, who survives her.

Shelly enjoyed the simple things that brought happiness to her life. She loved to crochet and especially enjoyed making baby blankets. She also enjoyed fishing and trips to the casino. Above all, Shelly treasured time spent with her family, particularly her children and grandchildren.

Shelly is survived by her husband, Brent; her children, Dana (Joseph) Fleeman, Robert (Jessica) McCarty, and Joseph (Justine) McCarty; seven grandchildren, with another grandchild on the way; her siblings, Kelly (Jerry) Brandli, William (Sharon) Boyle, and Susie (Richard) Boehm; her mother-in-law, Alice McCarty; her sister-in-law, Amanda (Bill) Otto; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant child, William Linington; her sister, Karen Boyle; her father-in-law, Robert McCarty; and her brother-in-law, Mark McCarty.

Friends are invited to visit with Shelly's family on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
