Obituary
Sharon Kay (Fox) Springer of Portage, Michigan, passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 81. Sharon was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on August 18, 1942, to the late Donald R. Fox and Dorothy L. (Nash) Fox. In 1960, she graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, then married Darrell Frank Berry. The couple raised three children and spent 33 years together until his passing in 1993. Later, Sharon married Jerry M. Springer. They were together for 21 years until her passing.
Throughout the years, Sharon was a homemaker. After the passing of her first husband, she worked outside the home to occupy her time. This included caring for the elderly, packaging of parts for a small company, and filling orders in a uniform warehouse.
Sharon's passion was decorating her house for the holidays. She especially loved Halloween. She would make her home look like a spook house, and she would dress up in costumes. She even made special food menus with creepy names fitting for the occasion. Christmas was a special time as well for family gatherings. Her grandchildren still reminisce about their memories at Grandma's house growing up.
Sharon had another talent her oldest daughter still remembers to this day, and that was her ability to draw. Sharon used to draw paper dolls and clothes for them. After Sharon's children grew up, she drew the design for the house that her first husband built for them.
During her marriage to Jerry, they enjoyed travelling to Kentucky several times, listening to music on their way and even singing along, visiting vendors malls, looking for little treasures, and enjoying each other's company.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jerry; her children, Lisa D. Berry, and Frank E. Berry; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Tinney, Johnathon (Barbara) Brown, Nicole (Michael) Williams, Makayla (Luke) Painter, Sara (Blakely) Allen, William Blakely, Debra (Chris) Sweeney, Dustin Lear, and Jakeb Delacruz; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband, Darrell F. Berry, and daughter, Kathleen S. (Berry) Lear.
