Sharon A. "Shari" Hock of Kalamazoo, MI.

Passed away Sunday morning, May 26, 2024. Shari was born November 17, 1941 in Grand Haven, MI the daughter of Lloyd and Marjorie (Smith) McLaughlin. Shari graduated from Grand Haven High School and then furthered her education, graduating from WMU with her Masters Degree (all while raising 3 young children)

Shari taught at Cooper Elementary, Plainwell Schools, for 32 years as a first and second grade teacher. She loved teaching the younger kids. She really enjoyed her students and her career.

Shari loved traveling. The family trips to Florida, Myrtle Beach, Cedar Point and Kentucky.

The many "friend" trips they would take golfing, beaching it, and exploring new places. She loved having dinners and drinks with dear friends.

Her most favorite place of all, was her family cottage in Grand Haven! She enjoyed her sunsets, watching the storms move in, walking the beach. It was so special for her to watch her children and their families now enjoying and loving it as she did.

To be honest, her biggest joy was making memories and that's just what she did! As her later years came, those memories began to fade for her, however, those memories are what her family and friends hold so close to their hearts.

She adored her husband and he adored her. She missed him, yet never forgot him! Our hearts can be at peace now, knowing they're together again.

On February 18, 1961 Shari was united in marriage to her loving husband of over 60 years, James Hock, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2022. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Adams (Pat Curran), Steven (Melissa) Hock, Kristen (Rick) Peebles; grandchildren, Chelsea (Chris) Carter, Tyler Adams (McKenzie and Charlie), Zack Peebles, Jesse Peebles, Madolyn (Brad) Lanser; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kinsley, and Henry; brother and sister, Larry (Anne) McLaughlin, Janet Vaughan; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may join the family on Thursday, June 6 for a Celebration of Life luncheon starting at 12:00pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials may be directed to Alamo Cove Nursing Home or the Alzheimer's Association. To view Shari's personalized webpage please visit
