Nelson, Scott E of Paw Paw: February 23, 1951 James and Marilyn Nelson had the first of their three children, Scott E Nelson. As Scott grew up it was apparent that he enjoyed tinkering with things, whether it be with go carts, erector sets or cars. Scott was born in Allegan, but when the family moved to their home on Ackley Lake in Paw Paw he became a Paw Paw guy for life. He graduated from PPHS in 1969 and soon after bought his own house in Paw Paw. Scott was a jack of all trades, he loved hunting and fishing, working on cars, home remodeling and various other hobbies. If you needed a tool for a job he probably had it. He was passionate about his beliefs (positive or negative). Scott held strongly to his feelings for people and those that were friends knew it and the couple he didn't care for D.O. N.O. it also. He deeply loved his parents, his brother David and wife Bonnie. He would do anything for them and their daughters Amanda and Sara. Scott has two sons, Kris and Barry. He passed along his knowledge and passion for building and tinkering to them both and loved every minute of it. Kris and his wife Nicole have two daughters, Emily and Kate; Barry and his wife Martina have three daughters Jasmine, Victoria and Madison. Scott's final passion came about in his love for his wife Viva. He was not a man of great words, but his actions spoke loudly. He was always working on something to make Viva smile, most of the time it was done in secret so she wouldn't find out until it was too late. Viva's two sons, George and Charles, became a part of his family immediately. Scott and Viva spent countless hours at the Elks Lodge working on various projects. Scott left us on Saturday July 29th, 2017 to go home. He will be deeply missed. Family and Friends are invited to his going away party on Thursday, August 17th from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Paw Paw Allegan Elks Lodge located at 41861 M-40 North, Paw Paw, MI 49079. The family asks that in lieu of flowers/plants, donations be mailed to the Paw Paw Allegan Elks Lodge at P.O. Box 63, Paw Paw, MI 49079.
