Sandra Bogema

Sandra K. Bogema passed away, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to loving parents in Auburn, Indiana and grew into a devoted wife, mother, and community member. Sandra was married to Ed Bogema for 42 years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. (After Ed joined the army she notably joined him in Germany for the duration of his assignment there). Together, they raised two sons, David and John, who both pursued careers in engineering, making their parents incredibly proud.

Sandra was a dedicated woman, with her early career working at First National Bank and American National Bank from 1957 to 1971. Her true passion, however, lay in her creative pursuits. As an active member of the Embroiderers Guild of America since 1976, Sandra served in various roles, including president, inspiring others with her talent and leadership. During her children's school years, she was very active in the school's parent/teacher organization. She very much enjoyed trips to England to review and learn about embroidery and other needle arts. .

As a mother and grandmother, Sandra cherished every moment with her family. She adored her sons, David and John, David's first wife, Peg, David's fiancé, Nicole, and John's wife Melissa. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy: Kathryn, Nikolas, Jacob, Joshua, and Elizabeth.

Sandra will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community that knew her. She was proceeded in death by her daughter in law Peg and she is survived by her sons and their families.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rose Arbor Hospice or the Michigan Parkinson's Foundation, causes close to her heart, reflecting her values and legacy. Services will be held to celebrate her life with a visitation and celebration of life on Sunday the 24th of August 2025 from 2-4pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, 411 E Centre Ave, Portage, Michigan.
