Shepard , Ruth Cannnon Falls, MN/Paw Paw Ruth Ellen Shepard, age 73 of Cannon Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Cannon Falls, MN. Ruth was born on August 17, 1946 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Warren and Blanche (Maloy) Woodman. She grew up in Paw Paw, MI, where she graduated from high school in 1964. During her senior year in High School she was awarded the Van Buren County DAR Citizenship Honor. Ruth was united in marriage to Robert Shepard on September 10, 1966 in Paw Paw. They moved to Cannon Falls in 2010. She served as a Deacon in Presbyterian churches in Barrington, Illinois and Apple Valley, MN. Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Michigan and was a former 4H Leader and Van Buren Folk Dancer. She was a homemaker who was a wonderful cook. Survivors include her husband Robert, sister Grace Woodman Fernandes, children John C. (Char) Shepard and Mary S. Gin; and grandchildren Derek, Brian, Carrie, Laura, and Duncan. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law David Gin. The family will receive friends Friday, August 13, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. There will be a memorial service held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 120 Pine St., Paw Paw, with visitation at 10:00 am. Rev. Robert Smith of Spirit of Life Presbyterian Church Apple Valley, MN and Rev. Tiffany McCafferty officiating. Burial will follow at Cuddeback Cemetery, Paw Paw. Following the cemetery committal service, there will be a reception with food and fellowship at Adams Funeral Home.
