Ruth Ann Craven, age 61, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. Ruth was born on May 6, 1961, the daughter of the late George Craven Sr. and Marlene (Thompson) Craven. She was born on a military base in Heidelberg, Germany. Ruth had said that every time her parents wanted to talk to her they had to get the sitters to translate, as German was her first language. She traveled with her parents as her father was transferred to different military bases. By the time she was in the fifth grade, she had already been to eight different countries and she loved it. She graduated from Parchment High School. During high school she had many adventures with her dear friend Teri Matico. Teri taught her to drive a stick shift on the night they graduated high school. Ruth had said "She is and always will be my best friend! My Lifelong Friend". After high school she attended Davenport College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She loved traveling, bowling, and reading science fiction books. She loved her family, books, and quiet times. She was very close with her sister Tambra. When she was born, the people in Parchment thought she was her daughter. Their parents worked 2nd shift and that left her to take care of her. They had a very close relationship, much like a mother and daughter. Ruth is survived by two children, Bruce (Krystal) Stewart and Anna Nicholas; six grandchildren, Kaylobe, Brandon, Amber, Elizabeth, and Stephen; one brother and two sisters, George Jr. (Julie), Tambra, and Gina. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Craven Sr. and Marlene Craven; and one grandchild, Madilyn. In honor of her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Kalamazoo CAN Council (KCAN). Arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
