Ruth Ann passed away peacefully on Friday March 13, 2020. She was born on November 15, 1927 in St. Clair, Michigan the daughter of Elon A. and Ruth (Joachim) Cahours. She grew up in St.Clair enjoying spending time with her extended family. Her father was a captain of freighters on the great lakes so she was able to travel with him on occasion. She graduated from St Clair High School and came to study at Western Michigan College in Kalamazoo. While attending school she went on a blind date and met her future husband Gaylord. They were married on December 27 1947. She worked for Dr. Marshall A. MacDonald's medical office for over 40 years before retiring. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, visiting family and friends and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gaylord W. Hartranft on August 30, 2009; and a sister, Elizabeth Bowden. Ruth Ann is survived by 2 children, Gaye Ann Densberger of Kalamazoo and Steven Hartranft of Houston, TX; 2 grandchildren, Emily(Brandon) Wilson and Matthew Densberger; 3 great-grandchildren, Austin (Lily), Julianna, and Zachary Wilson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. It has been tough watching her decline from dementia but there always was a spark of who she was. We will miss her unconditional love and support, her humor, her grace and having the best Mom one could ask for. Visitation will be 4-7pm Wednesday March 18 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Private burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair, MI . We will be having a celebration of her life at a later date.
