Rosemary Doty

Doty, Rosemary Kalamazoo Rosemary M. Doty, age 93, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed onto her Heavenly home on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Amber Place Memory Care with family at her side. She was born in Kalamazoo on May 19, 1928, the daughter of the late Duportal DeWitt Porter and Ethel Gladys Hall. She received a Degree in Secretarial Studies from Western Michigan University. She met and instantly fell in love with Allan James Doty who she married on August 15, 1952. They were happily married for 63 years until Allan's passing in April, 2016. After living briefly in Utah and Nevada, they moved their family to Parchment, MI, where they lived for about 55 years. Rosemary worked for the United Kennel Club, County Tax Equalization Office and the Kalamazoo Health Department for many years. When not working, her hobbies included shopping, vacationing, going to Lake Michigan, collecting knick-knacks, and taking walks. She adored all her many pets. Rosemary had a strong faith in the Lord and she had a kind, sweet and gentle soul. She was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and this gave her the greatest joy in life. She leaves her family and friends with many wonderful memories to cherish. She is survived by her four children, Robin (Jeffrey) Sherman, of Kalamazoo, April Mollhagen, of Surprise, AZ, Heather (David) Henrie, of Salem, UT, Christopher (Joan) Doty, of Kalamazoo; eleven grandchildren, Melissa (Kenneth Reed) Sherman, Andrea (Sidhant Mohanty) Sherman, Nicholas (Madeleine Jackson-Sherman) Sherman, Krista (Jon) Droski, Kelsey (Matt) Haggard, Haley (Cais Bak) Mollhagen, Austin (Amber) Henrie, Brenton Henrie, Colten (Leanna) Henrie, Alexandra (Travis) Parrish, Dustin (Diana) Henrie; sixteen great-grandchildren, Connor, Addison and Owen Haggard, Logan, Ivy and Mera Droski, Claire, Jack, Tucker, and Finn Henrie, William and Olivia Henrie, Vivian and Charlotte Jackson, Zoe Parrish, Brodie Reed; brother-in-law Robert Doty and wife Gerri; sister-in-law, Shirley Doty; former son-in-law, Robert Mollhagen; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was also preceded in passing by her husband Allan; siblings, Geraldine, Nahldine, Noel, Harlow; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The family would like to thank Amber Place for the excellent care of our mother and grandmother for the past five years. They would also like to thank Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. A private service in witness to Rosemary's life and faith will be held. Friends may call on the family on Thursday evening, November 4, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo. Health precautions will be taken and guests are requested to kindly wear a mask. Rosemary will be laid with Allan at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
