Ronald M. Roberts,76, of Lansing, died Sunday, November 5, 2023, at MediLodge of Lansing.

Mr. Roberts, the son of the late Charles F. and Juanita M. (Gomez) Roberts, was born October 7, 1947, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Otsego High School and was a member the Varsity Football Team and the Wrestling Squad. As a defensive tackle, Ron took down a number of offensive ball carriers weighing over 300 pounds.

He enlisted in the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in 1969, due to a traumatic injury. He was sent to a military hospital in Tacoma, Washington, and was later moved to the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After a few months, Ron went to work with a heavy construction team in Florida. He later moved to Seattle, Washington. While in Seattle, he was awarded 100% disability compensation.

Ron was a generous man, he would often stop his car, if he saw someone he thought was in need and he would give them cash. He enjoyed visitors and especially liked the blueberry muffins that his family would bring and the haircuts provided by his nephew and sister.

He was preceded in death by brothers: Edgar W. Taylor, Malcolm C. Roberts and Charles Roberts, III. Survivors include, brothers, Patrick (Ester) Roberts, Kent Washington, Jerome Roberts, Portage, Michigan, sisters, Jacqueline Mitchell, Arizona, Rose Roberts Yore, Springfield, Michigan, and Angela Roberts, Puyallup, Washington.

The family will receive friends, 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2023, Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, 370 West Van Buren Street, Battle Creek. Memorial Service, 11:00 a.m., with burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
