Roger Louis Young, 83, of Traverse City, died, November 4, 2015.
Roger was born April 30, 1932 in Port William, Ohio to James and Mabel (Gray) Young.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked in the meter service department at Consumers Energy for 26 years before his retirement in 1993.
He enjoyed fishing, trains, activities with his family and driving the church bus to bring children to Sunday school. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City and his Christian faith was very important to him.
Roger is survived by his wife, Jean K. (Hart) Young, they were married August 26, 1961 in Traverse City; children, Julie (Scott) Minnis of Kingsley, Renee White of Panama City Beach, FL, Wendy Young of Traverse City, Cory (Anita) Young of Traverse City; grandchildren, Tanya, Tyler, Jacob, Chastity, Dana, Jessica, Jacob, and Jenna; 5 great grandchildren and special foster grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Young Jr.; sister, Mabel Fawley and infant siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Traverse City First Church of Nazarene. The family will start greeting friends at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Point Cafe, Community Meals, through the Traverse City First Church of Nazarene.
