Nichols, Roger Roger DeWayne Nichols, age 79, passed away October 2, 2022. He was born June 14, 1943 in Coloma, Michigan to the late Shelvin and Pauline (Watson) Nichols. Roger attended Comstock High School before joining the Air Force, where he served honorably from 1961-1964. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved holiday gatherings, home cooking, particularly his mom's, and taking the kids to midnight movies. Roger worked as an electrical engineer for Eaton and later GM, and owned Nick's Root Beer Stand in Galesburg from 1984-1992. He had a love of all sorts of electronics, gadgets, and stereo equipment. Roger loved music and a good laugh, a good hot dog or slice of pizza, playing board games or cards, was a great roller skater, and was a big fan of fireworks and fast cars. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Jaime Nichols. He is survived by his three children, Ted Nichols, Christine (Jeff) Grant, and Anne (John) Cashwell; granddaughters, Kayla and Suzanne Nichols; siblings, Ed (Shirley) Nichols, Rick Nichols, Jan (Frank) Petrovich, and Laurie Mathon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 7 at 12:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Family will greet friends one-hour prior from 11:00am-12:00pm. A luncheon will immediately follow. Roger will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Extended Care at Fremont for the tender care and support they provided to their father.
