Robert Wagner

Formerly of Gull Lake Bob, age 96, died Sunday morning, August 26, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Kalamazoo, following a brief illness. Bob, the son of Donald and Catherine (Vangemert) Wagner, was born in Kalamazoo on July 12, 1922 and was a lifetime area resident. He served his Country honorably and nobly during World War II in the United States Army Air Corp (Air Force) as an Air Traffic Controller. Bob was the founder, owner and operator of Wagner Heating & Plumbing Supply of Kalamazoo for over 50 years. He was a member of the Yorkville Community Church. Bob was an avid golfer; enjoy his Ham radio; flying planes; laughing with family and enjoying evenings out with friends. Bob was united in marriage to the former, Helen M. Forbush in Angola, IN on January 24, 1956. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Helen; his daughter, Marriann W. Marshall of Englewood, FL; two daughters, Susan Widger of Lawton, MI and Suann Good of Parchment, MI; six precious grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen and a son, James. The Funeral Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 with the Rev. Shan Martin, Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Bob's family will greet friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the Church's Social Hall. Interment will follow at Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard bestowing military honors. Family and friends will continue Bob's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a light luncheon at the Gull Lake Country Club immediately following the committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's honor may be directed to the Church. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting Bob's family.
