Robert Mackinder

Mackinder, Robert R. "Randy" Of Portage, MI Robert Randall Mackinder, age 56, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, surrounded by his family at his residence in Portage. Randy was born November 20, 1964, in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Richard Lee and Joyce Ann (Elsie) Mackinder. He was employed in the construction industry most of his life. In his younger years he worked for Freelance Staging in Florida, working on set constructions for movies, commercials, etc. and was listed in the credits of the movie Speed 2. He had also worked for Diekema-Hamann Construction and was currently employed by SignArt, Inc. Randy was a true handyman and woodworker, who enjoyed fixing things for his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially NASCAR, golf and football and collecting 1.24 scale die cast cars. Family was the most important part of Randy's life. On July 17, 2004, he was united in marriage to Holly A. (Gish) Mackinder, who survives. Also surviving are a son Harley R. Mackinder; step-son Skylar (Kayla) Bruce; four step-grandchildren, a brother Richard L. (Laura) Mackinder, Jr., stepmother, Judy Mackinder and a stepbrother, Paul (Jackie) Anderson Randy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Michael J. Mackinder and a step grandson. In accordance with Randy's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Randy's Life will be announced and held at a later date. Memorial's in Randy's memory may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center; Bronson Cancer Center Kalamazoo; or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
