Robert Heitzman

Robert M. Heitzman, aged 68, of Sparta, WI and formerly of Grand Rapids, MI passed away December 1, 2008. He was born on May 23, 1940 in Evansville, IN to Marvin (Helen) Heitzman. As a child they moved to Grand Rapids and graduated from Catholic Central in 1958. In 1959 he enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany with two tours during the Vietnam War and then stationed in Panama before retiring after 22 years. He married Eveline Schoefer on December 29 and 30, 1961 in Vilseck, Germany. They moved back to the US in 1963. Together they lived in many places while Bob was in the service. Bob enjoyed bowling, golf and being active in his community. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post in WI. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Eve of Sparta, WI; daughter, Sylvia Liles of Petersburg, VA; grandchildren, Natasha, Matquita, Ricky Jr., Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Paul) Benjamin of Rancho Murieta, CA; brothers, Thomas (Carol), Paul (Margo), James (Pat) Heitzman all of Grand Rapids, John (Amy) Heitzman of Petoskey, MI and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Jerome Heitzman. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave. N.E. with Rev. John Vallier as celebrant. Friends and relatives may greet the family on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30. Memorials can be made to a church of your choice.
