Robert Green of Plainwell, MI.
Bob was born in Avoca, Michigan and spent his youth on the family farm. He along with his 6 siblings farmed corn, beans, hay and more, and had livestock. Bob graduated from Yale High School in June of 1948. He served in the US Navy from 1950-1954 in the Korean War. After returning from the Navy, he married his first wife Margaret in January of 1956. They moved to Chicago where he graduated from the Allied Institute of Technology. He also welcomed his first son in 1956. He and Margaret had 2 more boys one in 1958 and the last in 1968.
In 1958 he went to work as an engineer for Dunn Paper in Port Huron. In 1981 he was hired as the Plant Manager at Plainwell Paper in Plainwell, Michigan. His first wife died in 1990. He met his second wife Cathy at Plainwell Paper and they were married in 1993. He retired from Plainwell Paper in 1997.
Bob excelled as an engineer. He designed and built 5 houses over his life. He could fix anything. He restored several cars, trucks, tractors, stoves and more. He was known around the Lake Doster community where he resided as "Mr. Fix It". He was called upon many times to help folks out and did so generously. He got to take up golf in the late 1970s and golfed until 2019. He was struck by the first Covid 19 Virus in 2020. He never quite got back to his robust self, but still enjoyed travelling, eating out and sharing time with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Cathy, his three sons Jeffrey (Julie) Green, Rodney (Amy) Green and Kevin (Elissa) Green, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren whom he loved spending time with.
Bob was cremated and will be interred with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, in Augusta, Michigan on Tuesday, April 23rd at 1pm. A celebration of life will follow from 2:30-5:30 pm at Sherwood Gardens 414 N Sherwood Ave, Plainwell, MI 49080
