Robert A. Davidoff

Davidoff, Robert A. Portage, MI Robert "Bob" Alan Davidoff passed Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2023, in Kalamazoo. He was born December 25, 1951, in Kalamazoo, son of David and Celia (Halpert) Davidoff and had been a lifelong area resident. Bob was well-known for his perseverance and determination. He learned to overcome adversity from the very beginning, disabled by polio when he was still a toddler. He refused to consider himself disabled, and found enjoyment in golf, swimming, and cycling, all without the use of his legs. He graduated college, receiving his bachelor's from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the John Marshall Law School. He then went on to build his own law practice from the ground up, and was licensed to practice law in Illinois, Michigan, and Hawaii. Bob overcame many health issues, including strokes and heart failure, but he never stopped working. He was even representing his clients the day before his passing. Bob did it all to give back to his community and to provide for his family and the families of his employees. He was famous for his quick wit and ability to make the best out of any situation. Bob could make anyone laugh and was known as an avid University of Michigan football fan. We will always remember him for his persistence, laughter, and charitable heart. We will always strive to live up to his example and continue his tradition of finding the light in the darkest of times. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Sasha Davidoff; and in-laws, Graydon and Barbara Doster. On October 31, 1982, Bob married the former Denise Doster who survives. Also surviving are his son, Nathan Davidoff; brother, Paul (Judy) Davidoff; sister, Jane (Bob) Rogers; brothers- and sisters-in-law Karen (Len) Waclawik, Jill (Jim) Marcusse, Robert (Georgina) Doster, and Mary (Ben) Fillmore; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and lifelong best friends, Doug Kirk, Rob Lando, and Kent Fisher. The family wishes to thank Bob's caregivers, Sikiu (Izayah, A.J., and Ariella) and America (Leilah and Noah), whose children he adored. In accordance with his wishes, graveside services will be held 1:00 Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 2023, in Jewish Riverside Cemetery, with Rabbi Harvey Spivak officiating.
