Ricky D. Meek passed away November 26, 2025, under loving hospice care at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek in the presence of loved ones. He was 76.

He was born May 21, 1949, to Edwin and Evelyn (VanKeursen) Meek in Kalamazoo and remained an area resident all his life, save for a few years in the UP, his favorite place.

A Vietnam combat veteran, he was proud to have served his country, while carrying the burdens of that experience for the rest of his life.

Rick was an accomplished photographer and produced thousands of photos of cars, nature, people, places and activities. For some years he was track photographer at Martin Dragway, and he made lifelong friendships with drivers and racing enthusiasts.

Toward the end of his working life, he spent several years as a custodian for Parchment Schools, where he was respected by students and staff and considered himself a member of the community. There he met the love of his life, Lynne. They were married on September 24, 2000, and enjoyed 25 years of companionship, travel, and making memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Janet Graham, and his brother, Scott Meek, as well as several close friends, and his beloved dogs, Abigail and Susie.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia Lynne (Bridges) Meek, his son, Gerald Perusse, his daughter, Jody Meek, nieces and a nephew, several cousins, and many, many friends.

Cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest in a ceremony at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd, August, MI 49012 on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 1:30pm.

All are invited to a reception to greet the family and visit with friends at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, on Sunday, December 7, from 2:00-4:00PM.

Memorials may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project, envelopes available at the funeral home.

Rest in eternal peace, Ricky D.
