Richard VanderWeele

Richard G. VanderWeele, age 71 of Kalamazoo, died on July 21, 2025. He was born on March 7, 1954, in Vicksburg, Michigan, the son of Thomas and Grace (VanDenBerg) VanderWeele. Rich was a graduate of Comstock High School. He served in the U.S. Navy. Rich was a lifelong truck driver, working with Balkemas, Quality Greenhouse, and Balkema Sitework and Development. He loved to spend his time in the woods, especially up north at deer camp. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. His family includes his mother, Grace VanderWeele; his siblings: Thomas (Julie) VanderWeele, Wendy (Gary) Britten, Larry (Sheryl) VanderWeele, and Jerry (Tammy) VanderWeele; his nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends may gather with the family to celebrate Rich's life on Sunday, September 28, from 1:00-4:00 PM, at The Venue at 68, located at 68 E. Michigan in Galesburg. A private committal service with military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Donations in memory of Rich may be made to Michigan United Conservation Club.
