Musselman, Richard 7/18/1934 - 5/24/2021 DORR MUSSELMAN, RICHARD C. - Dick left this earthly life and entered the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 24, 2021 At the time of his death, he was where he most loved to be, at home surrounded by family and friends. Dick was born in Kalamazoo Michigan on July 18, 1934, son of Henry and Phyllis (Davis) Musselman. Following his (1952) HS Graduation from Kalamazoo Christian, he was employed for 11 years by National Waterlift in the Engineering Test Lab, and for 24 years with the Upjohn Company. Dick retired in 1990 and he and Maggie began spending winters in Orange Beach, Alabama. They attended the United Methodist Church during winter and the Sandy Pines Chapel in summer. Dick enjoyed watching and taking part in sports, especially tennis. He loved bike riding on the roads and trails of Sandy Pines and those in lower Alabama. He also enjoyed growing tomatoes and fancied BLTs for breakfast. Dick admitted with abandon his love for Hudsonville ice cream from the Sandy Pines Dairy Dip. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Henry (infant), Bob and his wife Marilyn, and Don. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Maggie, and their children, Jim (Candella) of Katy, TX, Judy (Richard) Carlsen, of Wayland, MI; Joseph (Shelly) of Lower Hutt, N.Z., and Jill Gettle (Jon Carpenter) of Brighton, MI; 4 grandchildren, Clara (Jose Cando) Musselman, George (Jessica) Musselman, Jacob Gettle, and Christopher "C.J." Gettle, and step-grandchildren Chris, Andy, Stephen, Rick and Valerie. There are also six great-grandchildren: Calvin, Kennedy, Conrad, Jose "Pepito", Felipe, and Camila. Survivors also include brothers John (MaryLyn) of Florida and Dr. William (Joanne), sister-in-law Evelyn, of Kalamazoo, and several nieces and nephews. Dick treasured many friends in both Alabama and Michigan, including Phoenix East Owners and Snow Birds. The Musselman family wishes to convey a special word of thanks to Dr. David Schriemer, Vicksburg and Dave Van Noord, Sandy Pines Chapel Director and also to the staff at Metro Hospital and Faith Hospice, Byron Center MI.. A celebration of Dick's life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., June 12th, at the Sandy Pines Chapel, 3630 26th St., Dorr, MI 49323.
