Richard Kuehl

Richard "Dick" Kuehl, age 76, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away at Borgess Medical Center on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 28, 1939, the son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Welch) Kuehl. Dick had a strong personality, with a great sense of humor. He loved his family and his friends, and was always willing to help when needed. Dick was a gifted mechanic, who loved hot rods and race cars. He was a hard worker who owned and operated several full service gas stations, and worked at GM from 1978 to 1994. On November 14, 1959, he married Barbara (Burling) Kuehl who preceded him in passing on April 24, 1990. Dick would fall in love again, and in July 2006, was united in marriage to Carolyn (Vestal) Kuehl who survives. Dick was also an active member of the community and was a member of the Elks Lodge, "The Ole Rod Gang" and the Optimist Club of Kalamazoo. He also enjoyed traveling and took a memorable trip to Hawaii. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves behind many wonderful memories that will not be forgotten. Dick is also survived by three children, Christine (Paul) Karnemaat, Steven (Virginia) Kuehl, Bob (Barb) Kuehl; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rose), Sarah, Emily, and Cole; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Tyler, Tobias, and Jacquelyn; a brother, Raymond (Maria) Kuehl; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park North, beginning at 11:00 AM. A celebration gathering will follow at Country Acres Village Clubhouse, 2300 Barney Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49004, beginning at 12:00 PM.
