Richard E. Meinert, age 84, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, with his daughters by his side. He was born in Racine, June 18, 1939, son of the late Elmer and Audrey (Nee:Heyer) Meinert.

Dick attended Wm Horlick High School. He proudly enlisted with the 7th Engineer Company U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in Green Bay serving for 6 years leaving with the rank of sergeant. On September 8, 1962, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna Holbus and they were blessed with 3 daughters. Dick retired from S.C. Johnson after a lifelong career. He enjoyed boating and was a life time member of the Racine Yacht Club. He also enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Classy Cruisers Car Club. Other hobbies included riding his bike and traveling. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his daughters, Michele Breheim, Sheryl Petersen, and Krista Meinert; grandchildren, Kristin (Justin) Mills, Michael Breheim (Samery), Rachel Petersen (Bryon), Ryan Petersen (Kayla), Randi Meinert, Larson Meinert-Edquist, Mitchell Edquist; 3 great grandchildren Ellie, Makayla, and Samson; sisters, Nancy Halbur and Diane (Dean) Turner; in-laws, Barbara (Ray) Governatori, Carol Meinert, and Earl Morgan, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson Lance Cpl. Jacob “Slim” Meinert and siblings Patricia Durik, Peter Meinert, Sue Lamb, David Meinert, Linda Baer, and Debra Cairns.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue with Rev. Brian Holbus officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family prior to the Mass from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Lunch will follow the Mass. Memorials to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation have been suggested. https://www.marineheritage.org/
