Richard Dominick Adamski, age 85, of Hickory Corners passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2020. Dick was born on January 9, 1935 in Hamtramck, Michigan, the son of Dominik and Clara (Michalczak) Adamski. Dick was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and was a tool and die supervisor for General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1988. On June 26, 1954, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Jane (Silarski) Adamski and together they raised a family of eight children – passing along their love and respect of their shared Polish heritage. Jane preceded him in death on March 5, 2017. "Dick and Jane" were devoted to their family and could always find the time for the constant stream of sports events, scouting activities and anything else coming their way. Always staying busy, even more so in retirement, Dick loved working on handyman projects, spending time helping others fix things, working with his tractor, fishing at his cottage, following the Detroit Tigers, playing cards and working on jigsaw puzzles … and he never gave up trying to be a golfer! He looked forward to solving world problems during Thursday morning breakfasts with his favorite buddies every week. Dick enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 30 years and was a charter member of the Hitching Post Follies. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was integral to many projects around the church throughout the years. Dick will be remembered as a one of a kind man who was a friend to all. Dick is survived by his children: Dennis R. (Jane) Adamski, Daniel R. (Sally) Adamski, David E. Adamski, Donald J. (Becky) Adamski, Debra A. (Donald) Hartman, Donna M. Adamski, and Diane A. (Bill) Clancy; nineteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, with one on the way; good friend, Maggie Dingledine, and seven nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane Adamski; son, Darin Adamski; daughter in law, Jill Adamski; and sisters: Christine Elgart and Joan Lane. Dick's family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM. Private mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Battle Creek Veterans' Administration or St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Delton.
