Ray married Geraldine Louise Dunton on July 13, 1951 in Angola, Indiana. He and his wife purchased a new home in 1951 and lived together in this residence for more than 57 years until shortly before his death. He worked for Sears and Roebuck Company in Battle Creek for several years. After retiring from Sears, he was self-employed as a sewing machine repairman.
