Priscilla Brooke Transue, Ed.D., passed away early morning on Friday, January 19th at her daughter's family home in Crystal Lake, Illinois, following a brief battle with cancer. Brooke was born in Traverse City, Michigan on December 14, 1942, to Donald and Alberta Blanche Mullen. The Mullens would soon move to Lowell, Michigan where Brooke was raised and grew up along with her two sisters, Ann and Noel Patrice. After graduating Lowell High School, Brooke attended the University of Michigan where she earned a B.A. in Speech & Communications (1964) as well as an M.A. in Communications, (1970). Brooke Married her high school sweetheart, Frank Max Transue in 1963 and they had their first two children, Donald (1969) & Paul (1972), in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 1972, The Transue family moved to Elgin, IL where Brooke worked for the local school district U-46 and founded Assessment Services, Ltd. In 1980, Brooke and the family welcomed their third child, Elizabeth Ann (Betsy). While raising three children, Brooke also earned a Dr. in Education from Northern Illinois University in 1986 and soon after became a professor at Elgin Community College where she would retire from teaching in 2018. Brooke and Frank were avid fans of University of Michigan football & also season ticket holders to the Big House in Ann Arbor. Brooke & Frank were devout church goers and attended the Episcopal church of Redeemer and St. Hugh of Lincoln, both in Elgin. Brooke was affiliated with the University of Iowa student teaching fellowship program and mentored many graduates of the teaching college at Iowa for placement in employment. Brooke's son Paul passed away in 2020 and her husband Frank also died in 2021. Brooke was a long-time member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and served as President of the local chapter as well as co-President at the time of her death. Brooke is survived by six grandchildren: Brookeanna, Daphne, Gavin, Holden, Jax, & McKenzie, as well as two children: Donald Transue, (Margaret) of Kalamazoo, MI & Betsy Hastings, (Justin) of Crystal Lake, IL. Brooke & Frank enjoyed spending time with friends in Manistee, MI & Sanibel, FL, as well as the company of their friends in the North Country Knolls neighborhood of Elgin, their church & their friends of Frank's company offices of Walker Parking Consultants in Elgin & Kalamazoo.
